Privacy policy

Effective October 20, 2026.

Prelo PDF takes care of your PDFs on your iPhone: it merges, organizes, compresses and splits files, and creates PDFs from photos and scanned paper. It is built so it doesn't need your data.

What we collect

Nothing. Prelo PDF has no account or login and sends nothing to any server. The only internet communication is the system talking to the App Store, done by Apple, to buy, restore and confirm purchases and the start of the trial, with no data from your PDFs. It uses no analytics, ads, tracking or third-party libraries that collect data. Nobody, including us, receives your files or information about how you use the app.

Your files

  • The PDFs you choose, or open in Prelo PDF from another app, are copied to the app's own temporary area on your iPhone, only to build the final PDF.
  • Those copies are deleted when you go back to the Desk or start a new stack, and every time the app opens again. The temporary area is not included in device backups.
  • The final PDF is saved automatically in Files › On My iPhone › Prelo PDF, only on your device, and stays there until you delete it in the Files app. When another app sends a PDF through "Open in", the copy the system places in Prelo PDF › Inbox also stays until you delete it. All of this is included in your iPhone backup, if backup is turned on. If you share or save a copy somewhere else, it follows the rules of the app or service you chose.

Camera

  • Prelo PDF uses the camera only in Scan, to photograph paper and create a PDF. Your iPhone asks for your permission the first time you tap "Scan document".
  • The images are taken by the iPhone's own document scanner and processed only on the device. Scanned pages stay in the same temporary area as the PDFs and are deleted the same way. No image is ever sent.
  • You can turn off camera access for Prelo PDF at any time in the iPhone's Settings. The rest of the app keeps working.

Photos

  • Prelo PDF does not ask for access to your photo library. In Photos to PDF, you pick photos in the iPhone's own photo picker, and the app receives only the ones you picked.
  • The photos you pick are copied to the same temporary area, only to create the PDF, and are deleted the same way. The originals stay in your library, unchanged. Nothing is sent.

Passwords of protected PDFs

When a PDF has a password, you type it once to unlock the copy. The password is used only on the device and is not stored anywhere.

Purchases

Pro can be bought inside the app, and Apple processes the payment. Prelo PDF only sees whether the purchase exists, to unlock the Pro tools. No payment data reaches the developer. So this still holds: no data is collected. The day the 7-day trial started is kept only on your device.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children.

This website

prelopdf.com uses no cookies, analytics, ads or tracking, and loads nothing from third parties (not even fonts). If you pick a language in the switcher, that choice is kept only in your browser. Like any website, the hosting provider may log technical access data, such as your IP address, to serve the pages and protect the service.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever handles data differently, this page will be updated first, with a new effective date.
